Ryan investigates how children develop an understanding of their social world through family conflicts. In particular, he has published on children's involvement in polyadic family conflicts and the ways in which they express themselves during such disputes. Taken together, Ryan's research program aims to advance our understanding of these important relationships so that they can be effectively incorporated into prevention and intervention programs.
